When you are reading these lines, you have something in common with Napoleon Bonaparte, Giacomo Casanova, Sophia Loren and Henry Kissinger – a visit to the Hotel Krone in Solothurn. Of course, this is no coincidence. In days gone past, secure roads led to the second oldest hotel in Switzerland. Today it is our unique atmosphere and outstanding quality that is so much appreciated by our regular returning guests.

A visit to our hotel is a rewarding experience. Referred to as an inn as far back as 1418, the hotel was completely rebuilt in the early classical style in 1772 and has since maintained its place in one of the most beautiful and complete baroque surroundings in Europe. This is the place where history was made and is still being made. Our collection of antiques is proof of our past.

Tradition and distinctions are of course valued but we are also geared to meet the high expectations of today’s society. Big comfort, courteous service and an outstanding cuisine are but a few of our qualities. Be it a small snack or a gala dinner we have it. Excuse us for being vain, but renowned gourmets and personalities from many countries have highly complimented on our specialities, our seasonal cuisine and the carefully selected wines.
